Danny has progressed well this term, Danny has been keen to learn his high frequency words and is excellent at using is knowledge of phonic to sound out the letters. Danny has built up firm friendships this term and is always keen to participate in all activities within the pre school

Personal, Social and Emotional:
Danny continues to be interested, excited and motivated to learn, he is able to persist for extended periods of time at an activity of his choosing. Danny responds to significant experiences, showing a range of feelings when appropriate and shows an awareness of the boundaries set, and behavioural expectations in the setting. Danny can dress and undress independently and has a positive self image, showing he is comfortable with himself and enjoys joining in with different customs and routines.
Communication, Language and Literacy:
Danny is able hold his pencil correctly and has started forming recognisable letters; he is able to write his own name. Danny initiates conversation, attend to and takes account of what others say. Danny can hear and say the sounds in words in the order in which they occur and is learning his high frequency words rapidly. Danny uses talk to pretend imaginary situations and a wide range of language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences.
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy:
Danny can observe and use positional language and shows an interest in shape by sustained construction activity or by talking about shapes and arrangements. Danny has started to show an awareness of symmetry and can share objects into equal groups and count how many in each group. Danny recognised numeral 20 and over and can match and compare the number of objects in tow sets.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World:
Danny can explain his own knowledge and understanding, and ask appropriate questions of others, he investigates objects and materials by using all of his senses as appropriate. Danny finds out about and identifies features of living things, objects and events and observes them. Danny uses time related words in conversations and understands about the seasons of the year and regularity. Danny uses a mouse and keyboard to interact with age appropriate computer software.
Physical Development:
Danny shows some understanding that good practices with regard to exercise, eating, sleeping and hygiene can contribute to good health. Danny can move with confidence, imagination and in safety and moves with control and co ordination. Danny can simple tools to effect changes to materials and shows understanding of how to transport and store equipment safely.
Creative Development:
Danny talks about his personal intentions and what he is trying to do and responds to comments and questions, entering into dialogue about his creations. Danny creates constructions, collages, painting and drawings and experiments with different textures. Danny explores the different sounds of instruments and has begun to move rhythmically. Danny plays alongside other children who are engaged in the same theme and play co operatively as part of a group at act out narrative.
Next Steps:
To recognise the changes that happen to his body when he is active. To begin to relate addition to combining two groups of objects and link subtraction.
To extend his vocabulary, exploring the meaning and sounds of new words.
